The Haus des Meeres also supports marine research by providing marine organisms. Thanks to that, the University of Vienna was recently able to analyze flatworm  via electron-microscope.

On this list, you can find the species which are currently available to research.

Furthermore the Haus des Meeres plans cooperation with the company SeaLife Pharma GmbH, which searches for pharmacological active substances at the sea.
