Horseshoe Crabs

For years we had Limulus polyphemus in our collection, which literally means „ the small, cross-eyed Cyclops“.

As recently discovered these animals have been on earth unchanged for up to 550 million years. Until recently it was thought that they first appeared in the Cambium era (542 to 488 million years ago).

Next to the aquarium of these living fossils we show a cast of a find from this era.

In our aquarium the Limulus live next to Land living Hermit crabs, Large-scale foureyefish and Feliferen.
