Betriebs GmbH

The main task of Haus des Meeres Betriebs GmbH is to provide an infrastructure for the operation of a zoo at Haus des Meeres, to support Haus des Meeres Aqua Terra Zoo GmbH in service provision and commercial matters, and to make visits to the zoo as pleasant as possible by providing culinary specialities and a well-sorted shop. Another of its tasks is to market and manage the event venues at the Haus des Meeres in view of cultural events, exhibitions and other activities. 

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Construction, acquisition and maintenance of all technical systems that are necessary for the entire operation of the Haus des Meeres
  • Box office management and accounting
  • Gastronomy operation and shop management
  • Processing of commercial agendas such as accounting matters, payment systems, payroll accounting, purchasing and tax matters for Aqua Terra Zoo GmbH and Betriebs GmbH
  • Marketing and press relations in cooperation with the zoo
  • Group tours by expert staff as part of educational activities
  • Early detection and avoidance of errors and sources of danger
  • Construction, monitoring and testing of all safety devices for visitors, employees and animals
  • Organisation and implementation of events, cultural events, and exhibitions

The Managing Board defines the goals for each specific area; general goals are specified in the corporate policy. Betriebs GmbH strives to achieve continuous improvement within the company and also encourages its employees to reach the goals and comply with the quality requirements.
