Shark and Turtle Aquarium with 120,000 litres

On the 23/1/1997 together with the new team, vice mayor Grete Laska, district director Mag. Kurt Pint and many honouree guests from the fields of science and art celebrated the opening of the new Shark and Turtle tank. The cornerstone was laid on the 6/4/95 with the friendly help of Dir. Paudler of the company LEGO. After roughly 5,000 hours of labour one of Europe’s largest salt-water aquaria with a volume of 120,000 litres was completed. Responsible for the construction and design (including the filter system in the cellar) was Christian Szekacs, for the exhibition area Mr. Kamenko Boharevic and Dr. Michael Mitic for the sedation (a world premier) and transportation of the shark from the 3rd floor to the ground floor. Finally after many years in spatially restricted conditions our Sea Turtle „Puppi“ was able to swim freely with our nurse shark „Cherida“, who became the best of friends.
