On this floor, you can catch another glimpse of our ring-tailed lemurs and komodos!
On the upper level of the two-storey Madagascar facility, the Komodo balcony, you have the opportunity to admire the popular ring-tailed lemurs and black lemurs once again. By adding a 7-meter long glass front, which separates the animal area from the visitor aisle, exciting new viewing angles have been made possible, allowing new insights into the animals' activities. Additionally, you can reach the balcony via steps as well as the lift stop. If you want to get even closer, i.e. directly to the ring-tailed lemurs inside the enclosure, you can book our extremely popular ring-tailed lemur encounters here.
The newly opened insect terrariums showcase fascinating invertebrates, which play an incredibly important role in all ecosystems! Without insects, the world wouldn't be what it is; they serve as a food source, pollinate plants, control pests, and process soil and waste. Insects have highly complex compound eyes, some species have ears on their legs, can taste using their feet, smell with their antennae, or communicate through pheromones. Their abilities are the subject of numerous research projects, but we need to hurry: their numbers have been declining dramatically for several years! So, it's high time to put the spotlight on these little critters with a special exhibit.
